Even though I do not love seeing myself on camera, I thought I'd share this video with you. (No, that is NOT me with the green face in the photo below!)
It started with a call from our district's central office at 8:30 this morning, asking me if we still had our Storybook Pumpkin Patch on display, and if I could have several students (who had parental permission to be videotaped and shown on the Internet) in the library ready to be interviewed within the hour. No problem, I said, right before I began to scurry around like mad to make it happen!

So a photographer came to our campus, interviewed me and a few of our student participants, and mixed it up into this cute Halloween video. After the surprise of organizing it on short notice, it turned out to be a great experience.
Tomorrow I get to hand out spirit sticks to our creative kids as they pick up their pumpkins and take them home.

Cute, cute, cute!! And by the way...you looked GREAT! One of my schools has a pumpkin carving contest in conjunction with Halloween Fun night...I wonder if 2 pumpking contests would be TOO much??

Very nice! I've done a potato contest before with my spring book fair but it's been awhile. Too late for pumpkins, but I may have to try it again this spring. Your kids were very creative and thoughtful! I love putting a face and library space to your blog personality!

My question is do students collect spirit sticks all year long and is there a contest involving them? Or is it similar to merit badges? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteStudents can earn spirit sticks or buy them for $1 from the PTA. This is our first year to have spirit sticks. If it were my choice, I would have students earn them and NOT be able to buy them. I would prefer to see them reflect accomplishments, rather than income. There is not a contest involving spirit sticks, just the pride students have in displaying them on a lanyard or clipped to a backpack. It's a great, fairly inexpensive (35 cents) prize that students are excited about.
